Bld522, instead of "SOLD OUT!", maybe put "CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE", and for the one "CURRENTLY AVAILABLE", replace that with the words "ON SALE NOW!".

As for the question, I voted no. I actually enjoy seeing the SYK logo when I first come onto the site, I think it's kinda cool and menacing in a good way. Besides, if there's a new release, there's always so much chatter and posting going on, everyone who logs on at least once a week finds out real fast. Why ruin a good thing? Our "guard dog" keeps away those who are unworthy of owning one of these fine blades.

I thought so; after all, Renee did say that the knife models would be cycled after so many years, so it just seemed more logical.

Maybe, but you notice that it keeps us more interconnected and social than on other similar forums? Regardless, by using the "ON SALE NOW" on the knives page, it will inform those of us that don't wish to converse.

Some call it anti-marketing, it works well too, tell me what Busse Family knife never sold out at some point in time.

I voted I don't care for a different reason. I think under the new business model, especially if they are always going to have something available to pre-order. it would be a good idea to display it. I voted I don't care, because I am on the forum plenty and rarely go to the home page. I link right here to find out what the next offering is...

But if he does as we were discussing earlier, and posts "Currently Unavailable" and "On Sale Now", under each knife appropriately on the knife page, they don't have to go to the forum, merely look at the knives and see what is selling right now.

You've lost me, Bld522. As soon as you enter the site post the logo, there's a list along the left hand side; one of the choices is knives. People click on it, and it lists what's available and what's not; it doesn't seem that labor intensive to me.

Not trying to be confrontational or anything, I'm just saying that editing the pics on the Knives link to say whether or not it is on sale seems less work, than to redo the entire site to have the first page show what is currently on sale. You'd have to redo that front page everytime a different knife was on sale. That means the expense of running the site goes up, meaning the cost of our knives will eventually go up. I think the editing of the pics is a lot easier.
