I'm new to the knife world and only own one Scrap Yard Knife, the Dumpster Mutt DC. An order for the Son of Dog Father has been placed, but I got the itch.. and I just had to scratch it.

I surfed around this and other knife forums, heard good things about Himalayan Imports, drank too much beer one night.... Well, here she is (next to DMDC for comparison).

I've yet to decipher the cool figures on the blade, but I'm told they depict the manufacturer/importer, the blade-smith, etc.

I hope the pictures upload well, my internet forum-fu is not strong.

The blade was made by Royal kami Bura(the crescent moon is his mark) The sun represents Himalayan Imports and the script is HI in Devengari. You can find more info here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=536023

Nice sword btw. I prefer the villagers myself, but still very nice.

Good score! I've been wanting to pick up a HI Khukuri after the SOD.

I've researched the Tramontino Bolo, Ontario machete, and the Bark River Golok. Now I need to study the HI swords. I'm doing more studying now than I ever did in school!

Then there is the Khukri. My problem is that I've never held any of these...that's how new I am to the blade world.

You don't have to be new to not know about Ontario, BRKT and HI. I am not exactly new to the blade world, but only recently discovered those brands myself.

The steel on the sword is interesting.. I coated the blade with Break-Free CLP, put her to sleep in the safe and the next morning it looks like the CLP is beading off the blade like water off a ducks butt.

I suspect some sort of wax? Very cool regardless. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Did you get it from Yangdu or a third party? HI uses motor oil as far as I can tell to protect the blades. I usually clean it off with Windex and add a coat of Renwax to my blades, so it's possible that's what someone else did if you didn't get it from HI.
