When I was a teen I spent days at a time down in swamps and river bottoms of South Carolina. I would leave on Friday and be out until late Sunday. My old WWII Enfield bayonet was my beater. God how I abused that thing, and it never broke. I would stick it in oak trees dig, pry and even killed an opossum with it once. I had an "expensive" $10 German bowie, and a boy scout knife, but back then all that old WWII stuff was cheap at the local surplus stores. I managed to break my bowie. Another useful tool was an old surplus USMC bolo machete. I did crack the handle, but a little tape and it was good to go. The only knife I had that was sharp and would actually cut was my Boy Scout knife, and I used it with care.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Are you ready for some "hard use" knife blasphemy? The best knife for digging in wood and prying is a cheap old bayonet or one of those 420J2 wonders. ANY knife with a fine point will either lose its point or have it bent if you put enough lateral force on a small area. I would never do much of it with any of my good knives unless it was a true emergency survival situation. Get a Crash Axe! If you are out in the bush and several days from civilization, use your knife with due care. I'm not saying you can't drill or pry at all, but try to keep lateral forces to a minimum. The last thing you want to do is break your knife miles into the Altamaha River swamps. You might need it to stick a gator.

When I was a Boy Scout, some 20+ years ago, I was cutting some stuff with my Buck 110 folder and then sticking the knife into a tree stump in between cutting tasks. I guess one time when I went to pull it out I pulled slightly sideways and lost about an inch of the tip. I was so sad.

Ever since then, I don't stick knife tips into wood, even my hard use knives.

Humans are fairly strong animals, multiply that by the lever arm of the knife, and the fact that the tip is the smallest thinnest part, and its trouble waiting to happen with even the toughest steel.

Tried to take some close-up shots today. Took heaps but this one was the only one worth(clear shot) a peek.

Going to eventually regrind her. Should turn out with plenty of belly & a tip that could pry a prison door

Its still a useful knife if you decided not to ship it back for a replacement.

Still can't believe how it just broke off like that. I tried and tried digging thru different things with the CT and it laugh at me each and every time.

JYD #84 This is my rifle, and that is my SHTF Busse knife.

That's it mate. We have a workshop, so this job will be pretty easy I dare say. Some cutting oil, well watered down, take it very easy so it doesn't heat up. And I should have myself something a little different & special. Then I will do another tip test . If it snaps this time around. Either two things. The HT on this particular knife is funky or I'm just heavy handed

If it snaps after you have ground it, it will NOT be covered under warranty. We need it back as is so that we can determine the problem that caused this damage.

I have been waiting for a response to my last email, if you want to resolve this you would just email me. I'm beginning to think you have no desire to resolve this.

I'm sorry Eric, I think I might of missed one email?, or you didn't reply to one of mine? Either way it doesn't matter. Lets get it sorted so SR can do all their tests ASAP. I understand your position fully on this situation.
I'm sending you a PM with my CELL number. Can you please ring me now. ATM it's 1.30pm here. I not sure on the area code needed, so you may need to check

From what I have seen, I think you need to keep the forum talk to one thread. You will be better off replying in the thread you created here:
