Hey, I have spent a long time looking at Swamp Rat knives over the past 6 years and own a Bog Dog and Howling Rat, both which I love! I am very pleased to see this company and didnt know it existed until today!! Does Swamp Rat still exist cause their are no links to knives on their site, what happened to them? If these companies offer full lifetime warranties how do they keep them when they only seem to make knives for limited periods of time.

I am very interested in the Dumpster Mutt but am wondering if it comes with a black coated blade and a normal Res C handle (not old busse combat) without the penetrator tip??

Do these knives come with sheaths, or are they sold aftermarket anywhere in leather with firesteel loops??

Yes, Swamp Rat exists. Store Link -
http://www.shop.ratknives.com/main.sc

They typically only make one particular model of knife at a time, then move on to another. ScrapYard has recently moved to the same business approach.

The Dumpster Mutt has been made in quite a large number of variations, including coated (several colors), satin, and doublecut. None are available in the store now, but seem to be plentiful in the aftermarket.

There is a very healthy aftermarket for not only the Busse/ScrapYard/SwampRat knives, but also sheaths and accessories at BladeForums.

Also, don't overlook this forum's own RainWalker for excellent Kydex and Leather sheaths. He does absolutely top shelf work. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Swamp Rat is still going strong. You can buy their knives here when they are available. www.shop.ratknives.com

The Dumpster Mutt is not available at this time, but may be again in the future. There have been around 5-6 variations and the last couple had the normal Res C handles. I'm pretty sure they are finally out of the Basic handles. Only the DMCG had the penetrator tip.

None of the Scrapyards come with sheaths. You can get either kydex or nylon from the store or one of the many fine sheath makers on this forum if you want leather or special features.

Welcome to the yard.

Ooops, missed the warranty part. They apparently keep a certain amount aside for such things. If they do not have the same model, they will offer a similar priced model as a replacement. I've never seen anyone complain.

As the others have said, welcome. Swamp rat can be hard to find; I'll never understand why http://swampratknives.com/ doesn't link to http://shop.ratknives.com/. It just doesn't make sense to make it hard to find out where to buy a company's products. Eric Isaacson runs the store as a separate business, much as Skunk runs the Busse Company Store as a different business from the Busse Combat Site. They're all good, customer service oriented outlets though.

I didn't see if you'd noticed that Scrap Yard is currently taking orders for what promises to be a very nice 7.5-inch blade knife named the "Son of a Dog father". See Here's The Next Scrap Yard Model To Be Offered!!!!; I don't know how much longer they'll be taking orders -- it's coming up on a month since they announced it.
