Dan, your avatar scares me.....

I try to guide by example, however, sometimes my example involves carrying bail money!

If you're not pissed off you're not paying attention.

I get the point, Dan. So far, however, I haven't seen anything posted on this forum . . . avatar or otherwise . . . that I considered offensive. Still, your house, your rules.

I haven't seen anything that offended me, either, but then I grew up on Navy bases around sailors! Full or partial nudity doesn't offend me at all, but I'd prefer it not be displayed on a family forum. I saw nothing worth complaining about, but others may have more modest sensibilities. A little consideration for others doesn't do any harm to me or anyone else. Just my opinion.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thanks for the reminder Dan. I guess I never looked at it from that perspective because I don't have kids that surf the NET. I can see how concerned parents can or may find certain avatars offensive. I took for granted that it is not only adults who enjoy browsing this family forum.

Bruce, it isn't always about what is offensive. It is also what is considered age appropriate. The forums have always been a family friendly place where you can browse without having to worry about something showing up on the screen that would require "one of those" conversations with a child.

Most of us grew up before the internet age. It seems that some forum members favorite game growing up was "last word".

True, Chris. But if that's the case, I wouldn't let my child near a computer with an internet connection. Give a child internet access and no matter how many safeguards you put in place, it's only a matter of time before "one of those" conversations will be needed.

Give a child unsupervised internet access and I'll be the first in line to smack you upside the head.

There are however a number of members who are on the forums when their children are around. This includes several of the Dans here. That is the point of why the Yard is family friendly. You can be on the forums with no concern about what your kids and family may be exposed to if they happen to be around. Plus it makes for a nice little oasis of decency on the big bad web.
