Jeff,
In your sheath making business, would you make leather carrying cases like
the one displayed for the Surge? With the clip on the back as this one has?

Thanks.
Dave

Yep. I make all sorts of stuff, sheaths and pouches using the clips.

I'm just about finished with a fancy Bird Dog sheath with a clip for another forum member. Did you hear that PoP ?

I actually prefer the clips for a lot of stuff myself, so I use then quite a bit. And... they recently started making them with a black finish which I like even more!

Thank Jeff for posting pics- all you guys have been a real blessing-Merry Christmas

The clip really helps for this style of multitool sheath. There’s a lot of stuff in there that is hard to pull out by Brail. Being able to take the pouch off your belt and see which tool you are grabbing makes everything easier. That’s the plus side.

The minus side comes when you get careless; the pouch rubs against something and slides off your belt. With the Leatherman and all those extra tools, and the cost of the pouch itself, that’s a big investment. If you don’t notice the loss at the time, you are out a lot of money. Not to mention the waiting time for Jeff to make a replacement. So if you wear one, pay attention when getting in or out of your truck, or climbing a tree, or sitting down into a canoe, or…

putting gear kits together satisfies in a way nothing else does. I bet I spent 3000 hours playing Diablo and Diablo II, where you wear best gear and only have a small inventory for anything else you need. Its pretty cool though. Everytime I go backpacking or overseas I get the pleasure of optimizing my gear for the trip before I ever even leave. You get a lot better at it too because you'll learn something every time you go out.

My favorite multi-tool is the Swisstool Spirit by Victorinox. It is very well made and all the tools lock into place. They are also fairly rust resistant. I have a Leatherman Wave too but prefer the Spirit.

I also keep a Leatherman Squirt (the one with the scissors)on my keychain along with a Fenix L0D.

Having the same two MT's myself, I have to say there is nothing like that definitive "click" when a Vic Spirit implement locks into place.
It simply says precision assembling and quality.

No slur against the LM Wave at all but with the marketplace literally saturated with "multi-tools" the Spirit is above and beyond most in terms of workmanship.

Ive never had need for one.
I do have a Gerber Suspension in the glove compartment.
Bought it at least a year ago,and until this thread,
had forgotten all about it.
In my opinion, there is no "one tool for everything"
Of course I have my work tools with me or in
the van all the time.
When I go camping,I make sure to have my "road toolbag" in the van.
Enough to handle just about any situation.
I dont know... seems the last place I would need a wrench or
phillips screwdriver would be in the woods.
Ok,lemme hide in the back of the cave....

Well giuys- it happened. I recived three leathermans- a rescue knife- several headlamps- and several flashlights for Christmas !! They are gifts and all are different and I really like all of them. NOW- I need figure out how to piece everything together as there is no way I would retun anything and hurt someones feelings. Plus- I just set a lot of store in a gift that someome took time and money to spend on me. Somehow I can piece it together.
