Hi guys I know many of you have gotten your SODs and im really jealous . but i havent seen too many action shots or hard reviews on them yet.

My plan is to have this post be a place where you can tell me what you might like to see an SOD do. I work out of a nursery/farm and have access to a bunch of different stuff to chop, hit, stab, and anything else. once i get a bunch of input (and MY SOD) i will demonstrate all the tests and take numerous pics and post them for all to see. I will keep newspaper handy for edge retention viewing. I will not be scared to break it because its supposed to be quite tough, so please post some serious testing ideas. I will not be doing any super crazy things like shooting it or bending it laterally, just real world tests. This is also my only SOD so if it breaks ill be really sad, if it doesnt then we all know we have a killer knife.

If anyone around the yard doesnt like my idea i have no problem doing it on my own and keeping it seperate from this forum.

actually... many people who actually use them just don't bother taking pics.
most people who keep them pristine take a lot of pics.
just from what I've seen.
trust me.
not all SY's are collectors.

I wish I had your kind of courage bro. I don't know if I can be so cruel as to punish my blades. Then again, I would probably end up doing most of those "tests" because that's what camp blades are for.

My RD7 has taken a beating, literally. Warped the edge on a knot while batoning it with a cold steel trailhawk (forgot to use wood.) The edge was wavy so I took the trailhawk to it and surprise surprise still looking good!

that is a well used ranger you got there!
they are tough as well, and I certainly love mine.
My rd9 compares well to my rd9.

not to be a hypocrite (lord knows i rant on threads) but id like to know what kind of abuse you want this knife to see.

Im aware that people do use and abuse their knives.

there was a NICE thread that mr pink posted where he and some mates pooled their knives and made a mess, thats my idea but with the SOD. only i cant think of any more interesting real world tests, thats where you guys come in.

Dawg that blade looks well used, i like justins work.

The Ready Detachment series is made from quarter inch thick 5160 that has been heat treated and triple tempered to 58 RC. It comes standard with tan or black canvas micarta handles. It has a protective epoxy-polyester hybrid powder coat. Comes with a nylon sheath with plastic insert.
