I posted last week that I got my SOD and would post some pics. Well, with Christmas, the lady friend, and the family I haven't had time to use it. Here are some pictures of the SOD and some ferro rods that I put handles on for my sister and her boyfriend for Christmas.

The handles on the ferro rods are thuya burl and brown mallbee burl. The hacksaw blades have red heart on them.

At first, I tried to stabilize them with Minwax wood hardener, but I don't know if that really worked. Other than that, it's Danish oil.

Those ferros are extremely well done. That is a fancy rig- now you just need pants to round the whole thing out

I'm wishing that I got a tan SOD along with the black one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />
Every pic that I see of you guys showing those tans are really cool.
Great looking knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I've never made anything with burl before, but I love the way they look. My sister and her boyfriend are way into primitive survival skills, so I figured that they would like these. I'm gonna make one for myself before I head back to school. I'm not sure what kind of wood I want to use though. I love the natural red color of the red heart!
