Hey dawgs- what kind of vehicles-SUVs- etc to you guys use ? I live in a pretty remote place so I have a Toyota FJ and I also have CanAm 4 wheel drive quads. I had my eye on a new Hummer but haven't added it yet. All of my stuff is fully loaded for off road and survival type situations. So......what kind of vehicles and what do you carry for emergency situation relating to vehicle and travel. Should be interesting-Thank You

I have a Volvo for around town and long trips and a Honda Ridgeline for everything else. I carry a BOB in the back and depending if I am going on Ft Knox or not there is always a handgun and battle rifle with more than enough ammo(except on post...they don't like that too much). I also have a fully loaded first aid bag to take care of pretty much any emergency that I come across.

For a vehicle, I've got an old (1995) Suzuki Sidekick 4X4. It goes just about anywhere.
For kit, I've got a CADPAT RECON 3 day Rucksak. In it I carry my BK9, soon to be switched out by my SOD or CT (when it gets here), my Koster Bushcraft, a Brunton multifuel stove, extra clothing (snowmobile suit in winter), 100ft of paracord, water treatment kit, first aid med kit, fishing kit, emergency rations, stainless steel 1-litre water bottle, 10' by 10' tarp, a six pack of emergency road flares and a firestarting kit.
The pack has an internal frame, which makes it a bit heavier, and I could pack it far lighter than I do (it's about 30 - 40 lb now), but it's in the vehicle as an emergency pack, so it can be a bit heavier.
Cheers

08' F350 4by My tool box in the bed has some MRE's water rope, tarp, extra boots, coats, and tools, behind the seat with a cable lock to the frame I have a AK47 with a folder and a few mags of ammo, plus I never leave without a pistol. And did I mention that there are always a few of the yard knives! My wife has a great USV a Nissan Xtera, I will tell you it is THE best 4wd on the road today period. in 2 ft. of snow it is like driving on dry ground just amazing, it is fully loaded with lots of gear in the storage compartment in the rear too.

I have a Toyota Tundra double cab, 4x4, with the TRD Off Road package. It is loaded. I drove this truck to Alaska last winter, from MA. Great truck!! ![[Linked Image from i167.photobucket.com]](http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u130/TheKnifeCollector/2006ToyotaTundrainCanada.jpg)

well being on an island it doesnt matter bcoz the best places are found on foot. BUT... id get a mid to late 80s (i think a 87) toyota 4x4 and give it a few inches frame lift and put some mini swampers on it.

Not one of these new beasts that are so expensive. Around here, you need to have something good that will take you into the lakes. My Sidekick does that and more. No lift kit needed though...
