Great pictures outSyder.
It was cool that you put in the ASH. For some reason,
I thought that the ASH was longer than it appears in
those pictures.

Thanks again

Both A2 and Skinny ASH1 've been heavy used.
So, the original shape is slighty modified, after several resharpening sessions. Maybe this can make the ASH seem a bit shorter (because it has the original width near the choil, but is less wide than it was in the rest) and the A2 seem a bit longer than it is because it is about 2 millimeters less wide than it was when it was new. Anyway, you can have an idea about these knives from my pictures.

I read your knife test on the Ash and A2 out5yder, very well done and full of detail. I was wondering, have you tried putting the SOD up against the similar tests and if so how did it do?

Nice trio, out5yder! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I've looked at the A2 many times and been tempted, as for the Skinny Ash and SOD, all I can say is... I was tempted and temptation won.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Both great blades! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

The A2 has been used for about half an year and only twice heavy used (one time is on youtube). Then, I abandoned it (I mean I stopped using it).

The Skinny ASH1 is the most used of the three. I do everything with it: chopping, batoning to split wood, dig holes into the ground, cutting ropes, cables and the like, cutting cans, breaking coconuts and other things by hammering the end of the handle to implant the tip... I keep it fixed with the kydex sheath on my backpack shoulder straps when I go into the forests and use it for anything which comes to cut there. Sometimes I also do some entertainment in the woods or in the yard throwing with it. I use it also into the kitchen to hash and peel vegetables and other foods. Of course, for kitchen I have optimized knives, and using the Skinny ASH is just a caprice; but I use it just because I like it.

The SOD is not used at all. I have just received it few days ago. I think I will use it only for cutting and chopping (the things its design is optimised for) and maybe rarely for batoning. I will carry it into the woods only when I will think I will need a lot of chopping. Otherwise, I will continue to use the Skinny ASH1 which is the best knife for survival I've ever touched.

BTW: the weight of the knives when new (because it's not mentioned in the specifications for bussekin knives) is:
Skinny ASH1 - approx. 425 grams
SOD - approx. 444 grams
(Fallkniven A2 - exact 370 grams)
