Received my SOD yesterday afternoon and took it for my weekly walk. I live in Southern Ontario and my usual haunt is a local praire reserve called Ojibway Park.

The dogs really enjoy the romp, particularly on a snowy day like today!

I have this favorite little rest stop where I usually do my pics and a few action shots. Lots of fallen timbre gives the knives something to do.

One of the great things about the Resiprene C handle is its utility in the cold. Nice and warm to the touch and insulating when using bare hands. Also works great with gloves and mittens. Here I decided to do a little chopping with mitts and had no problems with control.

Oh yeah - before I even took the SOD for its first walk, I had to test its heat treat a bit with some heavy duty chopping in the backyard. Worked like a champ. Not sure what the wood was but it is quite hard, particularly the heartwood portion. Oh yeah the wood was frozen too. This knife, albeit tip heavy, is certainly built for chopping!

Yeah I like it. I'm not totally used to carrying a blade this heavy, but it really is a great bomb proof blade. I was really surprised at how sharp the SOD was out of the package. Shaved hair and push cut paper with ease. From what people have posted in the other forums I was prepared to have to do a bunch of edge work to get it where I like it. No need at all for the SOD. Great knife.

Also a special thanks to Renee who fixed a problem (my fault), when I ordered it I had a mistake on my CC info. Anyhow, I didn't get back to her for well over a week between her first notifying me by e-mail as I was off on holidays. When I came back to work and found the notification I thought for sure that I had lost my order or placing in the order. After contacting her, she immediately made everything all right. I had the SOD in my hands within 3 days of providing the correct information. Great customer service!

KGD,

The pictures are great! You live in some pretty area.
I was impressed with the sharpness of the knife as well. Haven't had
a chance to take it out yet because of some personal issues, but it's
nice to see others on here trying out their steel.

Good to know that Renee was able to help you with getting your knife to
you so quickly. How did you get it through customs so fast???? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'll have to send you a PM to renew friendship, as we've had conversations
over in BF Canadian Connection a few times.

Great to have you on here. This is a great place!

Cheers

I can say that I'm starting to get the feel of the SOD now. Didn't really like the tip heavy balance at first, but I'm getting used to it. That balance configuration does really help with the chopping however. Still need to get a sheath.
