MC, how many miles was your trek across the US?
What's the longest hike you've done?

I ask because the pics you posted that one time were awesome, you have been around my friend! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

i never really counted miles but we did take all the scenic byways that we could and tried to stay off the interstate...my better half says we went at least 6k miles. longest hike i did was a weekender in canyonlands. i probably did about 15mi a day which is like 30 alpine style miles. so maybe like 40mi...hiking in the south is MUCH harder hotter.

ive been on a very short stretch of the AT when we were in the Smokey Mtns...i hiked up to the cabins that are up there it was an awesome hike it was really "smokey" i was hoping to see a bear but along our whole trip ZERO bear sightings...maybe next time!
