i know the busse boys are notorious for their love of scotch, particularly Johnny Walker Blue Label.

lately i've really been experimenting with different whiskeys...irish whiskey, scotch and different bourbons to try and find what i really like and what i figured out is that i dont like whiskey.......I LIKE TEQUILA!!!!!

.....and boy did i ever find the best,smoothest,purest,non-hangover causing tequila ever.

HERRADURA from 100% De Agave {blue agave}
[Linked Image from i234.photobucket.com]

this stuff is arguably the best tequila one can get in the states and maybe even then south of the boarder.the blue label in silver {clear} and the red label has some color to it which makes it "reposado" but its always been my opinion that clear spirits have less impurities and cause less and lighter hangovers.

this stuff is so smooth its dangerous because it doesnt burn at all and goes down too smooth which means a lot goes down too quick if not careful.it runs about $40.00 a bottle.

you can see in my pic the BDLE which is mt designated lemon or lime slicer and of coarse all liquor is delivered through my busse combat shot glasses.i even bring the busse shotglasses with me when i go out.

CHEERS!!!!!!!!

......amd for the record i did determine i like irish whiskey which is triple destilled more than i care for the scotch.

next week i'll put up some of the beers i've been drinking.their almost as strong as the tequila at 10-11% alcohol.

I'm partial to Patron (reposado - "rested") and Don Jesus. I'll have to find some HERRADURA an give it a shot (no pun intended).

The color isn't what makes it "resposado", it's the "resposado" process that gives it the color and unique mellow flavor. "Resposado" or "resting" as it is called refers to letting the tequila sit in white oak casks(pipones) for several months(no more than a year) during which time the barrels will give it it's mellow taste and pale color.

Clear tequila that is bottled immediately after being distilled is referred to as "Blanco", or sometimes "White or Silver". It has the truest flavor of Blue Agave and is quite strong tasting.

"Gold" or "Oro" tequila is tequila that has coloring and flavoring agents added to it and is usually what is used in mixed drinks and what not.

"Anejo" is Blanco tequila that has been aged in white oak barrels for more than a year, and it picks up more of an amber color and smokey woody flavor. Anejo means aged.

"Resevra" is simply Anejo that has been aged for many years.

Some other tequilas you might want to try if you like the Herraduras are:

1.Casa Noble Resposado
2.Homitos Resposado
3.Arette Resposado
4.Chinaco Resposado
5.Corralejo Triple Resposado

The best tequilas ever->>>> El Tesoro De Don Felipe (Anejo) & Caso Noble (Anejo)

Where does tres generaciones rank with you guys? I like patron as well, I think the anejo version of 3g was slightly smoother than the patron version.
Herradura is one I haven't tried, if it's as smooth as you say it is than I better never buy it!lol.

I agree about the no-hangover alcohol, and the silver has always tasted better to me.

I like Tres Generatcones in their Anejo. It's up there on the "good stuff" list but it's a notch below the others listed above.

Go out and see if you can find some Caso Noble Anejo. It comes in a hand blown bottle and it will be pricey, but I guarantee all of you that it will be the best tasting tequila you have ever put in your mouth!

I'm not really that into hard liquor, but (primarily due to the Busse tie-in) I've been trying different Scotches lately. So far and in my opinion, the best has been Pig's Nose. As 5-year old blended Scotch, it has the worst "specs", but tastes best. That being said, I didn't want to spend more than $40/bottle, so I stuck with "plebeian" brands:
Speyburn (10yo Single malt),
Dewar's White Label (blend),
The Glenlivet (12yo Single malt),
Pig's Nose (5yo blend)

The Glenlivet was also pretty good (although not quite as good as Pig's Nose). I've drunk Glenfiddich 15yo before, and remember it as good, but having decided that I like Pig's Nose as a straight up sipping Whiskey and can get it for about $37/bottle, why look for something more expensive?

i've also been recommended HORNITOS,CABO WABO & PATRON.the PATRON is almost too trendy right now and the many different colored bottles and variations confuse me but it is made in mexico and is supposed to be really good.they even have a super special version of PATRON thats $700.00 a bottle.

a little known PATRON fact is that it was started by paul mitchel the hair and shampoo guy.

i got a bottle of HORNITOS right now and will start on it tonight.i've never had it before.

as you can see in the pic the bottle on the right was a little under half full.i finished it last night in about 3 hours.i dont remember it but i'm sure i enjoyed it.

cooking a sirloin right now and then off to cut some lemons and try HORNITOS.

MAKERS MARK is a bourbon whiskey i do want to try and have heard good things about.TULLAMORDUE is an irish whiskey i've heard good things about and is affordable and JAMISONS wasnt bad either.

with me its either whiskey or tequila.i've been poisoned by vodka and gin too many times.not too into rum either.
