Thanks Tolly, yeah I love the gun laws there! I have a friend who has been trying to convince me to move out there(he moved there last year.) The way tings are going, I just might. I'll let you know if I do, a get together sounds awesome.

Texas is a little far from Indiana, so I can't make that. Hell, I can't even get out of Indy most of the time.

Texas is like a whole other country. I'm in ranch real estate, soon to be residential as well as ranch sales have slowed. But, last week I was near Dryden in Terrell county then back up to Tom Green county and the landscape across the vast distance is amazing.

You can see 100 deer in one wheat field. If you wanted you could tag out(shoot 5 deer) in one day if you wanted without much trouble. Well, cleaning them would be trouble.

Where in S.TX are you? I'm moving to the Houston/Galveston corridor around the end of the month from MA. Will be doing contract security work.

I've been checking out TX knife laws and it seems that any blade longer than 5 1/2" isn't legal. That would make my SOD LE (my first Bussekin) unwelcome. Or my bowies.

Is this accurate? What's the EDC limit?

Any help is appreciated!

Sigh, Texas knife laws are not as good as the gun laws. You can legally have a loaded pistol/shotgun/rifle in your car and drive around with no license. It would be illegal to have a knife with a blade over 5.5 inches. That is not cutting edge either, it would be from the handle to the tip.

BUT, if you are hunting, it would be legal, if you are camping it would be legal. It is really up to the discretion of the officer. Basically, if you are up to no good it is something the Police could nail you for. But, if you are on the up and up you are A OK.

I now carry an Emerson CQC-10 and never worry at all. It has a sub 5.5 inch blade and it is all I need.

Personally, a sub 5.5" inch folder in the pocket, a big fixed blade in the BOB, an axe and shovel in the bed of the truck, a rifle behind the seat and a J-Frame in the coat would be the way to go. And with a CHL all of that would be legal. I'm actually working on becomeing a certified CHL instructor.

Andy, knows a bit about the Texas laws. Indiana is more knife friendly.

Thanks, everyone, for confirming what I thought was true. Generally, keeping a low profile and not causing and trouble or escalating any you're in is always a wise choice.

Looking forward to my move out.
