What timing. I just put a hair popping edge on my S6LE today. The S6LE is just a bit lighter than the SODLE but the overall balance of the knife is somewhat better than the SODLE IMO because it's slightly less blade heavy and faster in the hand. Of course if I knew I was primarily going to be chopping I'd pick the SODLE. As a general all around knife I think the S6LE has it by a hair. It just feels so "right" and versatile.

There's only about an inch difference between the two so it's hard to make a bad choice here.

I voted with my wallet: I bought both

Don't give up, Ordawg. I was late to the party for the S6LE but happened to attend Blade West a couple years ago where Troy (360 Joules?) had a leftover from a show a couple years prior. My credit card made a sharp crack sound due to the small sonic boom it created when I whipped it from my wallet

Thanks Kraz- " Have cash will vote " . I sure love my S6 and that shiny LE will look really sweet once I find one. Very nice blade indeed

I don't think anybody mentioned it, but please correct me if I am wrong...doesn't the SOD LE have a sort of collector value? I mean different grind, no coating, and serial numbered. I was under the impression that they were more of a collector piece? Sure it is an extreme use blade, but I get the vibe that it is more of a show piece than a user. My take is that the CG is the user, and the LE is the safequeen.

Having to choose between the S6 & the SOD is a close call... both great blades...

I'll chime in and say I think I prefer the S6, of course I sold it a couple of years ago . I recently found my way back here to the yard and had to get something and was fortunate enough to find a tan sod and yard keeper in the same week. After handling the sod I've decided for me the s6 is much more to my liking because of the size and weight. BUT I would keep both.

If you sell the S6 two things will happen.
1) First off you will make some one out there really happy, perhaps even a fellow dog.
2) The second thing that will occur is regret, yes that is right, you will regret the day you sold the mighty Scrapper 6 for many years to come.

(now I am not 100% for selling the SOD either, but DO NOT give up that S6!!!)

REM762, Many in the yard don't consider Scrap Yard knives to be collector pieces; whether CG or LE, they're users. I'm more the other way in that I keep all mine as (dust) collectors.

It's funny how one's perspective changes; A few years ago, I used to consider anything over $50 to be high end. After I started collecting Busse Combat knives, anything under $350 became "normal" and knives costing $50 or less are downright disposable.

Isn't it funny that way Jim?
I've come to that very same conclusion.
My SOD, even with the exchange rates to Canada, is slated to be a user.
I no longer own any Busse's, but when I did, I just couldn't bring myself
to use them. They were just too expensive to play with.
Even my Rats are a little bit too expensive for me to use any more. My
Ratweiler, even though I've used it, now sits in the drawer, and I'm going
to be using the SOD and $50 Khukuri that I just got instead.

I'll admit it....I feel all Scrap Yard knives are collector pieces, and I'll tell you why. First off..Scrap Yard knives are the strongest knives in the world. I challenge any other company to put up a knife as strong as a Scrap Yard. (Bussekin is the exception). Many would try, and all would fail. Second you can trust your life to a Scrap Yard blade. When you buy one you are getting a piece of gear that will never let you down. I have done ALOT of knife research, and nothing can compare. I have lots of topshelf knives from various manufactures, and I feel they are all inadequate compared to a Scrap Yard piece. Finally...Price...Where are you going to get a blade of this quality at this price...NOWHERE! If I were more lucrative I would buy numerous Scrap Yard blades, and have users also. Right now my Scrap Yards are just eye candy...They give me visual pleasure. I don't have to use them to get satisfaction. I also know that if necessary I could take my blades anywhere....even if that is straight through the gates of HELL!
