I am sure there is an increase in the amount of babies made during the ice storms. If you think about it there is nothing to do, no heat, etc. so what better way to stay occupied!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My gradpa once told me that the reason people had so many kids back in the old days was because people were to broke to do anything else but have "fun". I totally agree.......................

I heard there were ice storms in MO and TN as well.

We had a bit of ice last week if I recall correctly, but the past couple of days have been the powdery stuff. As long as I can clean the windshield of my car with a few quick flicks of the wrist, I won't complain!

Hey Wooden,
Welcome to the Yard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I like snow. I'm not crazy about driving in it though. I got some new high tech snowshoes for Christmas but haven't had a chance to use them just yet.

The wife's Prius has a traction control system that won't let you power your way out of trouble in low traction situations. Sometimes a little wheel spin is just what you need to rock the car out of being stuck. Embarrassingly, our rear wheel drive V8 German made auto also has traction control but you can disable it. Fortunately the Germans understand snow. The Japanese do not.

I just took these shots off my back porch. It's 74F here and breezy. I'm still in my boxer shorts. I need to get dressed and out and about. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I love retirement.

We are in summer and basically being flooded (rainy season), we call it warm but wet.

Today warmed up enough that, along with the sun, most of the ice broke loose and fell from the trees. I'd been hearing forecasts of more Winter storms coming next week, but was told today that they've backed off that prediction to just flurries. Either way, it'll be good to get that extra weight off the trees before anything else happens -- it's been disconcerting to not know if/when the next big branch would come crashing down.

Took a pic today to show you how bad the snow was here. This pic was taken on my road, a mile or two East. Every year this spot drifts bad, because there are fields on both sides, and no trees for a loooong way. Anyway, last Saturday my Mom and I came back form shopping in Indy. We came down our rode from the other direction, and knowing how it always drifted badly here, we thought we’d check it out and see if we’d be able to make it to church.

By the time I saw how deep it was, it was too late. I was afraid to get stuck, so I kept going. I was in a tall ’04 Dodge Ram in 4x4. I could see it was several feet deep, but I kept going trying to bust through, even though I didn’t have a plow. Anyway, it finally got too bad, and I got stuck.

It took 5+ minutes, but I kept rocking it back and forth until I got going and bust through. Later, we called and reported it to the county so they could take care of it.

So, after several days of warmer weather, and slight melting, here’s what the area looked like today:

Pardon my hair, the wind was blowing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Here’s our truck I was driving that got stuck:
