I tested this knife with the factory edge (an edge profile sharpened at about 30-40 degree angle I think).
The first conclusion is that it needs to be reprofiled and sharpened to a smaller angle in order to cut properly into material (the same as it was with my ASH).
I first cut out some pexal (which is a soft combination of two kind of plastic sandwiching an aluminium layer) -> it cut with no problem. Then I tried it on dry wood -> the cutting performance was low. After that I tested it by hitting without joy an aluminium water pipe (2 layers of 1 milimeter thick each) -> I needed to hit hard and many times until it could cut a corner of it. In the end, I did some chopping into hard wood (dry oak tree) -> in that kind of wood even with its thick factory edge it outchopped both my Skinny ASH1 and my Fallkniven A2 which have been tested with a much better edge and profile. Then I tested a Fiskars hatchet with 14 inch handle (weighting 550grams) on the same wood to see how much is the difference and I appreciated the performance difference to be about 3 to 1 in the favor of the hatchet. If I will reprofile and sharpen the SOD the difference might be reduced a bit.
The good thing is that after all you see in the movie it had no rolls, no chips, no dents on the edge, nothing! It was not even dull. It could not shave anymore, but after all the test it went through, I went into the house and I was able to cut paper with any part of the edge.
