Are there any of those long tailed aquatic lizard looking things lurking about....

It was cool today and overcast. They were out a few days ago, getting some sun. I assume you mean alligators. Snakes, turtles, lizards and alligators can be seen on the sunnier days, even in winter.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I noticed your girls near the bank and wondered if alligators were something you had to be concerned about.

Most have been relocated from this park. An occasional one may drop by. They prefer the fresh water in the swimming area. There are a lot of big ones up on the Altamaha. Today was in the mid 50s, so even if there had been one, he would have been slower than the girls. They tend to prefer the fresh water areas. The golf courses on nearby Jekyll Island have them in the lakes and ponds. They do on occasion swim from island to island in the salt marshes, but they are rare there. The girls were on the salt water marsh.

There is a small ditch or creek just to the left of the girls in this picture. During rainy times, this connects to canoe trails and the freshwater swimming and fishing areas. This is a likely place for small gators. With my stick and my bird dog, I could quickly take a small one. The 44 is too noisy. It's for two legged predators.

This is Lewis Creek. This is serious alligator country. My older daughter is crossing last Spring.

Great pics Vic. I always like your hikes and your area.

I like winter and all, but I am about ready for warmer weather.

in the previous great depression.

As opposed to the one we are currently in (or starting to enter) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for clarifying that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My 15 year who was with me today wanted to know why I was taking pictures of such ordinary things. I told her that to people who may be couped up in frozen cites, what we call ordinary looks inviting, and might provide some enjoyment for them. Just as in the heat of summer I so enjoy the pictures taken up in the moutains or out in the Northwest. I love pitdog's pictures up in BC when it is 95F here.

Yes, I did want to clarify which depression. FDR had those camps run by the Army. Who knows, P-BO may open labor camps for us. Arbeit Macht Frei.
