I like orange; it's just a great idea for a handle color. I also like mudder grips having trouble picturing orange(could be cause I like the grey so much). Maybe a green coated blade, with orange handles? Using steel that has great edge retention is key. In regards to prying, it's nice to know that your knife "can" handle it. But in all honesty a crowbar obviously has better leverage than any knife out there (IMHO) especially when lives are on the line.

The right tool for the right job

You know, they could invent a,do all,
"knife for every occasion" and we would still
carry at least 2 knives.
We have a sickness and the treatment is a new release.
Doesnt matter what it is,long as its a new release.
Im gonna check with my insurance carrier tomorrow
and see if my infi/sr-7 addiction is covered.

The BC SAR knife was fine except for the handle and it was 3/16" blade thickness. Lots of SAR folks from the NW bought it we're told.

The G10 handle made it extremely handle heavy and all the nice handling qualities of a blade that's shaped well but not too long and not too short were lost IMO. Take that same blade shape and put a Res-C/Mudder handle and you'd have a nice knife. Make it too blade heavy and it loses its charm, again IMO. So don't go crazy on the blade thickness please.

I am a firm believer that ANY pieces of SR-77 made by The Yard is a Search and Rescue blade!

Even the micro thin Combat Grade Yard Keeper is trust worthy as a pry tool. You may not dig tree stumps with it but certainly it has lateral strength to be used in 99.9% of rescues.

I love the idea Tolly!

And like everyone says ANY new knife idea is a great one!

Peace.

Some people just never learn.

I would go for a mudder handled SAR style knife. ~5-6 inch blade, no choil...
