Welcome to the Yard!
yeah you just missed one and we never know when the next release will be, could be days, could be months! I would suggest checking at least once a week here and you'll eventually score.

What is cool now is while the offering(s) are in store (weeks) everyone scores! that is new here because before it was a limited run/amount and we had to be lucky and fast to score (and check all the time).

Of course you can get most past blades in the secondary market, but that'll cost you. Good Luck and good fun.

Hey-

Thanks for all of the "hello's"! I definitely feel welcomed. I will look around and try to post some while I await the next release.

I've noticed that the SR and SY knives seem to be somewhat related to the busse knives...I've seen the last name at each site. Could someone explain the relationship and tell me how the knives differ? The Busse's seem to be a bit more expensive and the SYs and SRs use different metals. Is that only difference?

Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question. :-)

All three Busse brands are made in Wauseon, Ohio. Jerry is the head honcho, and he does Busse Combat, his wife, Jennifer owns Swamp Rat, and his brother Dan runs Scrap Yard knives.

Busse Combat Knives are INFI steel, Jerry's own exclusve steel. You can read about it at the Busse site. These are the top of the Busse made knives, and the most expensive.

Swamp Rat knives are made of a 52-100 steel, with Busse's famous heat treat it is called SR101. A few have been made of 154CM stainless. Most of these have micarta or G10 handles, like the Busses, but are priced lower than Busses.

Scrap Yard Knives are made of a modified S7 shock steel which SY calls SR77. These are very tough and all have Resprine C molded handles. These are the most economical of the 3 brands, superior performance for an affordable price being their main mission. There have also been three Scrap Yard Knives made in 154CM, including the most recent Scrap Muk.

Thanks for the response Horn Dog. I like all three brands not to mention many others...Boy, this is an expensive hobby. :-) I've been buying mainly folders (and a few guns)and have now decided I need some nice fixed blades.

Thanks again for the responses and "hellos"!

Welcome to one of the best places to hang out, shoot the bull, learn about all kinds of neat things, and see some of the best built knives.

A bit of advice==get ready to experience some great knives. Oh yeah, the people here at the Yard make the knife experience that much better.

I came here not too long ago looking for a Dog Father but learned that the knives are done in batches. Well, I was lucky enough to get on on a Tan SOD CG and was truly hooked and now that the MUK has arrived I think I am screwed from here on out.

But hey, what better way to invest one's money. The way I see it the blades will last my lifetime and several others too.

So true! I figure that my grandson will pass along my collection someday - hopefully to HIS grandson!
