I'll probably get one or two at Blade. But in the meantime, no more knives of any kind.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Ok, now a question about thoughts on a M9LE / NMSFNO comparison. I can only get one. Which one though?
Anyone? Hard to tell by pictures and specs alone. My guess is they will likely compare favorably to each other. The M9LE is a tad longer, but appears a little thinner at the tip with more clip. I think without handling both, it would just be speculation at best. .

... Ach! That's the Kalamazoo 1SM, the very one I'm saving up for! Vic, you gotta tell me; is it really worth the money they charge you for it? It is the essence of simplicity. And it has good, tight belt tension and a very smooth running cone head (Baldor) motor. The only thing I don't like about it is how time consuming it is to install and remove the platen. But I don't do a lot of flat grinding, so I can live with that. I got it for $260 or so delivered, and it came fast. I ordered it from Amazon, but I could have gotten it straight from msc/j&l and got free shipping. I do business with them but did not know they carried it. It is American-made, too. I really like my 1SM, no problems with it at all. As Vic said -- smooth. Well worth the $$$$.

I got confirmation today that I was in...went to the site...to see the M9 is no longer available for pre-order....Beautifu! I remember reading a post by a faithful Swamp'er that said Eric would give a heads up long before shutting down the ordering.....I guess not.

Hey Vic...it seems to me you have like three belt sanders, is the new one vastly superior to the Habor Freight cheapo that people talk so much about?

Send an email to those two address's that Eric gave. Do it today, and you might still be able to get in on the pre-order. Good luck dude.

KG,
I've decided to stick with the M9. Put my order in a few weeks ago, but have been second guessing myself since the NM went to the Busse Store. It was tempting, but I already have 2 8-inch knives that are pretty good, and the M9 will do great for me.
No Regrets

As much as I like my NMSFNO, I think you made a good choice, Dotd. The M9LE is just plain beautiful and is bound to be a fine chopper.

No Regrets Well, I still say that as far as to which one is "better" between the two, it is still hard to say until we have both in hand to actually compare. I still say that for most everyone SR-101 is PLENTY tough with no significant known damaged SR-101 blades with the exception of one that may have (likely) had temper damage done by custom grinding. And I personally feel that SR-101 has exceptional edge properties on par with INFI. And again, based on size and shape, I would still guess that the M9LE and NMSFNO will VERY likely be pretty darn close in actual performance (best guess ????). Looks are subjective and I personally think they are both pretty nice looling, but I am HUGE fan of SATIN!!! If what is left is fit and feel in the hand, again, I would guess they are likely to be close, just balance a bit different. So, since the M9LE is SATIN and saves you a LOT of money even if the NMSFNO is a good buy for INFI, then I would have to say the M9LE is "Likely" a VERY good bet! I guess my only question about the M9LE is what I would use it for. It is not likely to be as good a chopper as a DFLE or Battle Rat. I am anxious to feel it in hand for balance and feel. I wasn't a fan of the M6. I felt the M6 was WAY too handle heavy. But, a 9 inch blade changes a lot. We'll see. I am pretty optimistic about the M9LE. .
