SUREFIRE is set to release a head lamp sometime this year called the "SAINT".

here's what really impresses me about it.it is what they call "DUEL-FUEL" capable.meaning it can use either standard AA batts. or 123A LITHIUM batts like the majority of surefires use.

its sometimes hard to find 123A's in the field but AA's can practically be found anywhere.

is this a first of its kind thing??

From an electronics point of view there is nothing extraordinarily unique about the Saint. Spanning from 2.5 volts to 12 volts or so in an LED light is pretty straightforward these days with combo boost/buck regulators. The innovation appears to be in the design of the battery compartment which is pretty slick.

I do like the dual battery capability, but price seems a little high for what you get. I think I will stick with my Petzl until technology takes a big enough jump and prices come down.

i was just referring to the "DUEL-FUEL" aspect of it.other than thats its nothing special although i'm sure its decent.

i've got a few handheld SUREFIRES but my PETZLE works just fine for a headlamp.plus i dont like the ones with battery packs on the back of your head.this thing looks too bulky for my liking.and as far as the price is concerned i'm surprised it isnt more with SUREFIRE's prices.

i just didnt know if this multi battery capability had been done before.i could see it being very useful for troops or anyone in a remote area.2 choices are always better than one.

i expect we'll be seeing more and more lights with this option in the future.it only makes sense.

Thanks for sharing this info, people often don't understand the need for a good flashlight etc.

You could do that with a Fenix if you got the extra tube body & the headband.
