Just a piece of advice, the Yard has some of the greatest people around and the blades are just addictive. Be sure you are saving your pennies, eating beans and rice, and whatever else you can do to get your blades.

A 5 inch blade kinda bridges the gap between a small slicer and a bigger prybar or chopper. Kind of a multi use knife. I think sr101 would be a good choice as Knife Hunter said a few pages back. Good for slicing,strong enough for some light,heavy work. (not to be confused with heavy light work)
Since it aint gonna happen in sr101,I would go with sr77
Oh,and since it took me 6 hours to get nowhere sharpening on my Mud Puppy 154 CM, I cant imagine how long it would take to hand sharpen 5 inches of it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That's the down side to 154CM. Thank God for the Kalamazoo 1" x 42". But it holds its edge very well.
