I bet they don't make that mistake again. Of course if Dan or a moderator had asked that it not be posted, I would have respected such a request. I did not know it was forbidden when I posted it. I thought it was fair game. It was in a public access account, after all.

Sounds like Jerry, et al need to work on their Photobucket skills, and read their service agreement. When you post a pic in photobucket, you give up all exclusive rights to said pic. Anybody is free to do with it whatever they want.

Example...

On AR15.com a few months back, some doofus posted pics of himself trying to be a tough guy... and tons of people photoshopped funny text, and other stuff into his pictures as jokes at his expense, and posted them. He whined and cried to the site staff, threatened to sue, have the site shut down, said they were violating his rights to his own material, etc., and they actually locked the thread, until Ed Sr. read the Photobucket user agreement. Then he opened it back up for more hijinx.

IF they don't want their photos taken, then they need to password-protect the Photobucket account, and not post pics from it they don't want all over the internet.

I have a copy of both the pictures myself.

Okay if a rookie might offer a word? I STILL WANT THE KNIFE. If they're still selling it, I'm still buying it. I'm sorry if their plan of introduction didn't go exactly as intended, but you know what? That is a great product right there, and I can't wait to have one. Have any of the hiccups changed that one bit? Absolutely not. If their goal is still to produce knives that people want, then they have achieved that goal. Without a few bruised knuckles and scraped feelings? Perhaps not. But the point is, they make knives and we buy them, and I'm buying this one. So, any landing you walk away from. A glitch here and there changes nothing. Scrapper 5 is going to be fantastic. Everyone concerned should be extremely proud of it. If some of the Busse halo falls on their little cousins, that's good for both Busse and the cousins. We all know what makes these knives special. Nothing has been taken away from Busse or the kin. The Five, if anything, expands and enhances the mystique. The fact that, eeeeevery once in a while, there's a chance to get something truly special, or rather, especially special, only serves to remind the clientele of what makes it special. We all know that not only are we getting a chance to buy a great knife, but one with a little Busse DNA, and that only serves to enhance our appreciation both of the knife and its originators, and the source of that DNA. All of the brands benefit, as do the customers.

Shake it off, folks. It was a glitch. Everything is fine, there's still a great knife in the offing and lots of appreciative customers eager to buy it. This is the goal and this is what's happening.

Just my $0.02. I don't necessarily know what the hell I'm talking about...

Hmmm, I didn't think you could have a photobucket account without a user name and password.

When I go into mine I have to log in, once I'm in there the various titles of my albums all have a lock avatar next to them. I assume they are protected.

Now I wonder...

Oh yes you do. I just hope the little "glitch" remains little and we still get the knife we're all hoping for. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

Just an FYI for you guys. Just because you can download an image does not make it FAIR GAME. The creator of the image OWNS the copyrights. By definition that means COPIES of the image. It is illegal to post images that you do not own or have permission. GOOGLE and other large search engines have been successfully sued for doing exactly that. If you notice they have changed how they do the image searches now and they link to the original page instead of just the image.

When I post images here I do not mind if you guys download them and use them for personal use, but if someone tried to publish a poster, calendar, etc. I would have legal options to pursue. Images posted by Dan or Jerry(or not posted as the case may be) have the same protection.

If you don't own them, then technically, YES. There are some exceptions, such as news and education, but if the image is copyrighted(and all of them are at the time of creation) it is illegal to post in a forum. Is it enforced? Rarely, but it's still illegal.

Also, Dan's PB account was supposed to be private which means the terms do not apply. Even with the terms they have listed there have been successful lawsuits for images being used commercially that originated from a PB account.
