I'm waiting for the CG version of the SAR4 *crosses fingers*. I'm definitely in for a couple S5s. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Passing on the S5 would be a mistake I think.
This looks like it will be a classic blade.
Plus, If they come out with a CG Sar4 down the road, I figure you'll have it looking like an LE in less than a day HD...for a lot less. True!

I saw a thread on BF/Busse section last night where a couple of SAR members were talking about the knife. They didn't have a lot of love for it as a user for them. But, seems like they are all toting an Ash or bigger knife anyway.
I saw earlier in the thread Knifeguy saying he saw drawings they helped- ya got a link Knifeguy? Those would be interesting to see. As I started shoping for a quality knife, one of my searches helped me find Swamp Rat and family!
Forgot who it was, but he had a RW and had been using a Camp Tramp.

I'm liking this one more and more as I handle and use it.

Here's how I like the tiger hide. After it's been oiled and then used a while, it still retains some of the darker coloration, but the lines and depth begin to show back up. A nice balance between the lighter scales and the darker oiled scales.![[Linked Image from i146.photobucket.com]](http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r259/guyon5/knives/SAR4n.jpg)

I saw earlier in the thread Knifeguy saying he saw drawings they helped- ya got a link Knifeguy? I'm not sure about the pics Dunner was talking about. The only ones I have are these two. The top, we've never seen. The bottom became the SAR5. ![[Linked Image from i146.photobucket.com]](http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r259/guyon5/BabySAR.jpg)

I agree with Guyon...it is an awesome knife. Grip wise, I love the machining of the handles. It provides plenty of traction, but is not harsh on the hands. I like the NMSFNOs, but I think I'm going to run a light sanding on mine just to smooth some of the micarta edges down.
Question Guyon, Is the tip of your SAR4 not seem as pointy as ASH, NMSFNO, FBM, or other Busse models? Mine seems to lack a really sharp tip, which I don't really mind, but was just wondering if mine is an anomaly or the norm.

I have a Becker Magnum Camp with a convex grind that looks very similar. That type of edge doesn't always meet up with as fine a point as a V-grind. It can though. Jeremy Horton put a somewhat "pointier" convex on one of my Meaners, and he noted that Ban puts an even finer tip on his convex edge grinds. I like the slightly blunter tip on the SAR4 though. I worry less about it when batoning.

Nice, thanks for the reply Guyon. I did have an AD from Ban, and it was wickedly sharp. I love the grinds he puts down. I'm going to try out Jeremy for a few regrinds as well. He seems like a good guy who really knows what he's doing.
  But ya, SS5!!!! I'm stoked.
