Well, when can we get one of the S5s? That is the real question.

I also like the smaller choil, but would not hold my breath that it will be changed. Either way, I am in... You know, looking at these 2 sketches I don’t think it’s going to make a difference one way or the other. I think both look great and as one wearing a small knife (2” blade) for fine work anyway I don’t much care about the larger choil. This is not a woodcraft blade no matter what you change. To me It’s a great utility blade for camp chores and the like. I downsized SOD, if you like. Just prettier <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I think Dan did a great job on the design and the blade shape is particularly nice. The best looking SY knife up to date in my opinion. ![[Linked Image from overlandrover.net]](http://www.overlandrover.net/Mac01/General/Scrapper5LE_Mod_01_op_800x414.jpg)

Hi all i'm new here, mainly spend my time on the Busse subforum on BF or on JD but I was told to check this place out so here I am.
Looks like my timing is not bad as I might get a chance at the Scrapper 5 when it comes out. It's a good looking knife for sure and depending on price I may have to pick up two. One to mod and one to beat as it comes.
Only got one question really, has anyone ever used Tooldip to coat a Muddy (correct term?) style handle?
I was thinking if I get a Scrapper 5 to mod then I may beef up the handle by dipping it in Tooldip until it's plenty beefy. A bit like the older Res-C handles.

RoyalM, Welcome to the board.
Never thought of the tooldip for something like this. Makes sense though. Thanks for the idea.

This is not a woodcraft blade no matter what you change. Why do you say that? Is 5" too big for woodcraft or is there another reason?

The blade is too high and you really need a spear point for fine work. Also, the grip is too shaped and contoured and even if there was no choil, the first finger would be too far from the edge. Here are 2 examples of fine woodcraft knives: Dan KosterBark River

that depends on another your preference. I own the koster and a lot of barkies. for bushcraft I prefer a mora hands down. I would take a mora and a busse over those models any day. the mora is for mare useful with its scandi grind. the koster has a scandi grind but the mora works much better. if I want a knife that will do that and be able to baton, I choose a bussemuk.
