If anyone is interested here is a live video feed of a large grass fire just north of my location. http://www.kfor.com/news/livestreaming/

2000 to 3000 acres so far. 21 Fire Departments are on the scene.
If you don't sharpen your axe from time to time, you will soon be chopping with a hammer.

Seems the whole state is on fire. I know Midwest City and surronding areas are on fire right now and with the winds the way they are--it is going to keep going.

maybe pass along to them that a team of 5 bulldozers can make a really wide firebreak in the grasslands quite quickly....
thats how the fire boys used to do it where i grew up...grass fire? bunch of bulldozers make a big firebreak around the fire. It burns itself out and does'nt jump the line

Winds are gusting 50-60 miles an hr so a fire break won't stop it. The embers are blowing hi and long tonight.

I think Jeff (sumoj275a)was closer to them than I am. I am halfway between the two major fires. It appears to be over this morning for the most part. 60 to 70 homes lost, 34 people injured, no deaths but one of the injuries was servere burns to a firefighter.

We were spared but there is a lot of loss around us just about 15 miles away. I know my wife's grandfather lost some land and probably livestock to the fires down south.
