I am really interested in buying a Scrapper 4 as it has almost every spec I'd love to have in a knife. I just am not a big fan of coatings with knives I am going to cut food with. Has anyone stripped their Scrapper 4 or is there someone you can recommend for me to send mine to if they have? I like my knives to look good as well as perform well. So I'd like this done right. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you are eyeing one, make the grab. It is a awesome blade and is my edc.

Folks do strip them all the time and will share their info shortly I'm sure.

Acetone or paint stripper will work on the removal of the coating. I just stink it in that stuff for a few hours and bingo coating be gone!

The thing with taking off the coating is that, coated bussekin blades are not smooth after you remove the coating. You will need to sand it down after you remove the coating if you want satin finish blade.

I removed a tan Battle Rat's coating some years ago.

Nice, thanks for the info thus far. Does the acetone or paint thinner affect the handle material? Or should I tap up the handle and do my best to keep it out of the coating stripper?

The acetone do not affect the handle at all from my experience. I suggest the use of rubber gloves when you are working on it, they are very harmful if you touch them with bare skin O>O

Ya, I've worked with some acetone before thanks for the advice. About how long did it take to get the thinner to work?

I assume I should use something like a 600, then 800, then even finer grit to finish the stripping process?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but I've never stripped a blade before, and for some reason I have a lot more care for my blade then many other tools I have. Probably the cost!

The epoxy stripper works well I've heard.
