i'm sorry you're tired, but you're gonna have to give some quick impressions of those. namely the vintage walthers, mausers, mac 11, luger, and comanche.

larger, higher pressure calibers required a delayed blowback system to function properly. Pretty spot on.

The makarov, 9X18mm Russian, is about the largest useful blowback pistol.

Now the HK P7 series, it has a fixed brl but it uses a roller-lock system.

So for the blowback, does the slide need to be so massive so it doesn't move as fast as a lighter slide?

Sumo: I'm not sure if I'll stay in California when I graduate. I love the coast and have recently taken up surfing, which I also love to do. California, right now at least, has a fair number of engineering job opportunities. As long as the state government doesn't screw things up too much, there still should be jobs here when I'm done with school. What bothers me the most here is the amount that politicians want to control our lives. If it gets much worse in the future, I may have to leave CA to maintain my sanity (and rights)! I guess I'll just decide when I get there (hopefully by the end of the next school year).

Hang in there. I know with the stimulas plan one of the things touted is the re-building of the infra-structure. I am sure there will be jobs available when you get out. Has the California state coffers increased lately, I know they were talking about laying teachers off, etc. not too long ago.

PBL, I am in awe. I love the Inglis HP's (do you know what countries they were serviced in), the Luger is a classic, but the Smiths are above and beyond! Do they need a break from you--if so, send them my way and I will treat them right!

Walther P-38
Heavy DA pull. Good SA pull. Accurate & reliable. My dad has a P1, which is a P38 with an aluminum frame. I prefer the steel framed P38's.

Walther/Manurhin PP.
Probably the best .32 out there. Accurate to beat the band. Very nice and smooth.

Mauser HSC
Almost as nice as the PP. Not quite as reliable, but a neat pistol.

Mauser 1934
A neat gun. Put together like a puzzle. It's reliable and compact.

Mauser C96 bolo
Nice. Again, assembles like a puzzle box. fun to shoot. Not 100% reliable, but it is 80+ years old. Extra nice with the stock on it.

Cobray Mac 11/9
I paid $175 for it last year at a show. It's heavy, has a bunch of trigger slap, but is accurate and reliable. It makes liberals cower in fear...mission accomplished.

Luger byf41
Bought the rig a couple of years ago at a show. All matching and nice. Lugers are natural pointers and great shooters. I like it a lot.

Comanche
It's a cheap revolver. But it is big, ugly, and reliable. It's weight tames recoil, and it's reasonably accurate. I got it as a Christmas present one year, and it makes a good knockaround pistol, for the price.

One Inglis is in Suncorite (black paint), so it was definitely British issue. The other pistol is in it's phosphate finish, FTR-63, so it really could have been either Canadian or British (though typically British pistols wore the black Suncorite finish).
