Love those pics! Where in Hawaii do you live? I had a girlfriend who has family out there so I went out there with her a couple of times. I love Hawaii! Personally, I'm a fan of the big island because it's not as crowded and seems to have more plant life than Oahu.

Is that where Coconut Rum comes from, the Maui one?

All kidding aside, great pics.

Hahah, nice!

I've been to Hawaii twice when I was a kid, kind of a waste because I didn't do much but hang out in tourist spots. I plan to go there again someday.

Before I die I want to visit Hawaii. Of course I want to visit some of the tourist sites like the USS Arizona Memorial, but I would love to hike the islands too. I have a s-i-law that lived there for a while but she got sick of being a worker and not a tourist. I thought she had a good gig with basically living at the beach in a condo that was her boss's ( he was here in OK) and she sold cigars too. I guess she got home sick.

I do know that I don't want to go swimming cause I hate sharks.

I did the tourist stuff on my first trip with the lady friend, then more stuff with her family the second time. I don't really care for the tourist areas there. Too crowded and not really what I consider Hawaii specific. What amazes me about Hawaii is how beautiful the countryside is. I guess I just love green areas. I lived up around Puget Sound and the Olympic peninsula for a couple years and I loved all the green and trees there too!

I had a student move in from Washington once, he could not handle the lack of green during an OK summer.

I hear there are wild pigs all over Hawaii. Do they allow bow hunting there?

dle: i live on oahu...currently waikiki but i grew up on the westside (nanakuli)

sumo: USS Arizona is cool tons of great info!

ill rank the islands from most tourists to least:

1. Oahu
2. Maui
3. Kauai
4. Hawaii (Big Island)
5. Molokai
6. Lanai
7. Niihau (owned by private family)

kauai has the napali cost which is a killer hike. but really the gem is Hawaii. theres a ton of open land and its home to the highest point in America (most of it below sea level <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> )

the tourist or worker thing is big. hawaii is so expensive that most middle class families both parents have to both work full time GOOD paying jobs just to rent. you really do PAY for paradise yet never really get to enjoy it fully. after living on the CONUS for a bit i know i want to explore more...ive seen the islands and honetly im bored of them....too pricey. for ex i could be renting a 4bd 2ba houe with garage in LV for what i pay for a 2bd 2ba 1 parking space condo is NOISY waikiki.

if any of you do come to hawaii dont swim in waikiki beach water tourist regulary piss and poop ALLL the time!

sumo i wouldnt worry about sharks more so some of the dumb locals or the iceheads.

we do allow bow hunting. the nursery i work at has a whole troupe of wild pigs but we cant trap them...long story.

also the SOD ate through those coconuts like butter. the reason they are so frayed is because they are old ones. if you get the younger mature green ones you can husk them easily. its a fun post work activity. im gonna make coconut curry with the meat later

Too funny! When I came back to California, I flew in to Oakland mid December and thought, "Wow, if by 'Golden State' they mean brown, then this really is the Golden State!"

I envy anyone who gets to live in places like the Northwest or Hawaii!

I guess I have some decent scenery here on the central coast of California, too. Just not as green.
