Patina (staining) is just a sign the knife is actually being used and that's just the nature of carbon knives. Patina also helps from further corrosion. I remember last year when staining was so popular people were dipping their knives in mustard and vinegar to speed up the process. I personally think it looks great and add a lot of character.
Here's my RC izula before and after a couple weeks use.

As for the sharpening, I'd take up HD's offer, you'll have a sweet convvex. But I highly recommend you learn how to sharpen knives yourself. I think it's a very important skill to have if you are a knife user. Before I got my belt sander, I went from the spyderco sharpmaker to just some sandpaper, it worked faster and I got better results (and it only cost me a few bucks).
