i hope SY keeps making smaller and bigger knives in SR77. the occasional sr101 run is ok, but to replace the smaller sr77 such as the dmcg and s6 with sr101 is a BAD BAD move. the yard has built its reputation on bomb-proof blades made of sr77. i think dan is as fond of it as am i. SR77 aint going nowhere bc Dan knows how great it is. BAD BAD MOVE???? WTF? a blades main objective is to cut, SR101 most defantly holds its edge longer, the bigger the blade the more need for a tougher steel is acceptable, the shorter the blade better edge retention is the way to go. Dan made the CORRECT move here.

If people really only cared about the steel here, why would anyone buy anything other than Infi? It is clearly acknowledged as the best of the 3. As for me, I like the variety. I am excited to get the S5 in SR101. It will be my first blade in this steel...

While I LOVE INFI...the price to performance ratio of the Yard blows my mind.
Enjoy every sandwich.

I agree, but the argument usually seems to be ONLY about the steel, which is what raised my question.

I am excited to get the S5 in SR101. It will be my first blade in this steel... I prefer the Ratmandu to the Busse BATAC. For an all-around chopper, I prefer the DFLE to my FBM. If I could get those knives in INFI, I would, but I can't and the SR101 and SR77 are still better steel than most knives have.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Dan made the CORRECT move here. What he said. Pretending like toughness is the most important factor on EVERY SINGLE BLADE is just silly, IMO. On small blades, edge retention is way more important than being ultra-tough. A super-tough fillet knife that doesn't hold an edge is useless. Sorry RS, but your attitude is exactly why some people think Bussekin blades are nothing more than sharpened prybars. Use the right tool for the job, and the right materials in the tool - small knives should put edge retention near the top of the list.

Under six inches... give me thin with good edge retention. I myself have zero use for a thick 4 inch knife made of super tough steel. 6 inches and over....I will sacrifice edge retention for toughnesss, especially for 9". Other people use their knives differently though. SR101 on the sub 6 inchers would be great to me...and make em thin
Be prepared.......It is more than a motto it is a way of life.

Even on the big'uns I like SR101. It's plenty tough. I would love for the Yard to do more knives in SR101 and Infi. Don't forget the Infi!
I also like my knives thin since I use them for slicing more than prying. I would rather carry a mini-crowbar in my pack than carry an overly thick knife.

I honestly just can't even buy any fixed blades that are not Bussekin. Now if they would just release that darn Busse folder. Guess I have to look for a Rat Trap. Well, the patent for it is online. You could buy a piece of INFI, cut it down, and use the plans to make your OWN Busse folder. Nothing wrong with making your own, a patent just protects the owner from someone using the design to sell to others. As long as you make it for yourself, you're good.

Make 2,and so you dont violate the patent protection, you can just give it to me freely! In return,in effect,I would be saving you from a lawsuit! Surely that is worth a little folding knife isnt it?
