I agree 100% Knife Guy. I ordered anyway, even though I know money is tight. If I get desperate, I can always sell it and recoup at LEAST what I spent on it. At least that's what I told my wife!

Smart approach Bomb man.

I just really believe the M9LE to be a SAFE bet! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

At worst, it is just a bit of money out of pocket for a few weeks or more.

At best, you might end up with one of your FAVORITE knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Somewhere in the middle could be a bit of profit or at LEAST cover cost and shipping if it just isn't what you want. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I know some think it is tacky but I like coated blades, full height flat grinds if I have a choice. But with these two(see below) I think my 9 inch blades are covered. If the M9CG came out at a more affordable price I might snag one.

And the one on the right.

The price hurt me as well. I could only get one - when I was hoping to get two. Finances are just too tight for a spare.

But, you are probably right. I think the M9LE is going to be nicer looking. And I could be wrong, but I don't "think" I see it replacing my BR and I might personally lean to my DFLE over the M9LE if I didn't have my BR.

I prefer the look of micarta, but for choppers, I just prefer the feel and balance of Res-C. For use, feel and balance outweighs looks.

But, some people do prefer micarta and some don't have a BR or DFLE.

For those who DON'T have a BR or DF/DFLE, I think the M9LE is a VERY worthy consideration. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

And as far as cost, you might spend about the same for a new M9LE as you would for a BR or DFLE on the secondary market ???? - not real sure what they are going for these days as I have had to force myself away from the sale forums. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> to prevent spending what I don't have. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

But, mine are satin. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />... NOT trying to bash anyone who likes coatings. Some people like color and/or lower maintenance. To each their own. For me, I believe there are "some" advantages to satin. But, I admit, in most cases it really is just mostly about preferences in aesthetics. To me, the look of "Steel" and the "Feel" of it's bare surface (I will try not to interpret that too much) is largely what seems to fuel my interest and attraction to knives. Nice looking scales is a factor in some/most cases as well. So, my only attraction really to Res-C is feel and function. But, when it works that well, I can and do go with function. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, I am still very excited about the M9LE. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'm really glad that I scored the M9LE especially since its my first Swamp Rat (SR101) Blade. Its an awesome knife and I believe it was worth the wait. I echo all of Knifeguy's comments on this knife. I think it will become one of the great classic blades out there.

SR101 has definitely grown on me, especially after how well it performed with my butcher-job of an attempt at convexing the edge of my Mini Uncle Mojo after I accidentally chipped the heck out of it trying to baton through a log with a hardened masonry nail in it. I don't quite have it hair-shaving sharp, but it's better than the factory edge and has a beefy profile that I expect to hold up well to abuse.

The idea of the differential heat treat on the M9LE is dang temping, and that temper line is just beautiful, so I hope I get a shot at it on a waiting list (or at BLADE!)

I really hope you can score one M/M, as I agree with K/G and really believe that it will indeed be a classic! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
