I have been working on my NMSFNO today. I hate Jerry's new coating. It is just too good. It laughed at my usual paint stripper. I am giving it a full convex grind. I know, it has a convex shape already, but it is really rough under that super good coating they're using nowadays. It was my only painted Busse and looked out of place. Many hours of Zen sanding await me tomorrow. For now, I must meditate and drink.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Can't wait to see the end result Vic! Or step by step if you choose too... I've been thinking about stripping the SS4...

I got started late in the day and ran out of daylight. After two applications, the paint still did not bubble up and fall off. It did soften it some, so I have been scraping it off as best I can. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Busse/SFNO001.jpg)

does the stripper affect the handles? No, Res C, micarta, and G10 are pretty much immune to it. Like Jerry's new paint. It is a lot of work to get a good looking satin finish on a big blade with a 1/3 hp 1" belt sander. I'll have to be in the "groove". I really wanted a NMSFNO LE, but they were over $700! I don't have the stuff to reattach the handles so I just leave mine rough around the ricasso and pommel flats and leave them on. Look at how rough the steel is still after an hour of sanding. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Busse/SFNO006.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/Busse/SFNO005.jpg)

Looking good. How would I hand sand a knife to a mirror finish? I am using 600 grit wet/dry and it becomes less reflective then if I stick to 320. Any pointers?

Hand sanding will take hours. I tried to hand sand a BR some years ago and this is as far as I got. ![[Linked Image from img240.imageshack.us]](http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/6580/img5396.jpg) the knife was well used so I figured that I really can't mess it up lol.
