I bought the knife. I did a whole convex grind from spine to edge on it. I had Jeff make me a beautiful leather sheath for it. I have used it. But I never posted a review of it. Until now. I'll admit, it cuts a bit better than it does with a factory edge. But a good sharp one can do anything this one can do.

Specs: Blade length 6 7/16" long x 1 7/8" wide x 5/32" thick after grinding. They come 3/16" thick. This one weighs 13 1/2 oz, or about the same as my SODLE.
Steel is INFI, handle is micarta.

First, I spied some light vegetation out back. I need to trim this.

Swish! Done!

Maybe cut some thin slivers of wood for fire starting. The razor sharp Steel Heart does it with ease on any part of the blade.

Chop hard dry oak? Nothing to it. About 20 chops, and this is hard stuff.

And the edge still shaves just fine.

Now I'll split what I just chopped, using one part for a baton.

Piece of cake. I can notch even with the tip, this knife handles so well.

It slashes through free standing woody brush with speed and ease.

I can stick it well, too. Got these on the first throw, using the blade hold method.

The Steel Heart strikes fear into the Lizard King. He is outta here.

After washing the blade, it would slice very thin slices of apple.

I could chop a logging chain with it, but I don't have one handy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
This is a great all around field and combat knife.

I like the thin blade on this one. It keeps the weight down and makes it a super good slicer. The thicker models may out chop it, and out pry it, but I like this one. I just know I'm going to like the new Scrapper 5, too.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

You should seriously pull the trigger. If I had to start selling off my knives, it might be the last one I held on to.

It's that nice.

The Scrapper 5s will be great, WB. They may or may not chop as well as the Skinny, being 5" blades and all, but they can do all the rest just fine, I'm sure.

I've said the same thing many times. In the ASH-1, I feel the balance is wrong with a heavy blade (others disagree), but Skinny's kick ASH.

Great review Vic. I like my "SKINNY" as well. I know some people love the Fattys, but I want to have a knife I can "USE".

The Skinny ASH is a good user.

I think it's design is very versatile and hard to fault.

I might just slightly lean towards my SARSquatch though for a similar size.

How do you feel about your Skinny ASH vs. you SARSquatch's???

.

JYD #39 I prefer "SATIN" blades!!!
