Great review Vic. I like my "SKINNY" as well. I know some people love the Fattys, but I want to have a knife I can "USE".

The Skinny ASH is a good user.

I think it's design is very versatile and hard to fault.

I might just slightly lean towards my SARSquatch though for a similar size.

How do you feel about your Skinny ASH vs. you SARSquatch's???

.

They are similar. I prefer the handle on the Sarsquatch because it doesn't catch my pinky when chopping, but both knives are good users for sure. They cut! I like that in a knife.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

That's the thing that confuses me the most, especially with some of the small Busses. Quarter-inch thick stock for a knife with a four inch blade is just absurd, IMHO, and it seems like those ridiculously out of proportion knives are the ones that fetch the most money on the exchange.

Might as well buy a united or frost cutlery fantasy knife if you're gonna spend your money on something so incredibly impractical. Would at least save some cash that way

May I suggest this one...?

I met Gil Hibben at Blade 2007. What a nice gentleman he is. He actually does some nice useful knives, too. Those fantasy knives just don't do it for me. I don't know if that is a Hibben or not, but what in the world is it made to do?

It's an older hibben design - 2000 or so, I think. From what I've heard, the guy is a fantastic custom knife-maker... it's a shame he attached his name to those low quality 420J2 stainless POSes. On the other hand, I would imagine he made buckets of cash from those things selling at every mall and flea market in the country, which should set him up nicely to make whatever knives he dang well pleases, so I can't fault the guy.
