was out in the woods this past weekend and got to my campsite decideing on what to do many things went through my mind and thaught that i would work on my bow drill meathod of making fires.

sorry that there are no pics of me making the fire but i was the only one out there this time and as you might know its a little hard to take pics whail operating a bow drill.

was using the wetterlings to chop up some of the fire wood and used the NMSFNO for the splitting and the rat RC-3 for some of the finner spliting work and also for making fuzz sticks

i carried my NMSFNO in my new sheath i got from rainwalker

then it was time for some lunch where i had some chicken noodle soup, hot chocolate, and beef jerckey

Nice pics. Those woods kind of reminded me of the woods in that movie "The Blair Witch Project" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> But I'm sure they are perfectly safe - especially with your arsenal of blades. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I have never tried starting a fire with a bow drill, I'll have to give it a try

yea my camp site looks a little torn down and it really isnt that small i was just standing infront of the fire pit, next on my list is to put some more thatching on the shelter but that is a project for another day

yea it had taken a lot of pratice and that was only the second time i had gotten a fire started that way and it took me half an hour to get it to work

Great pics. The bow drill is something that I am no good at. I guess I should keep trying it but I give in and end up fire steeling it.

BTW, the hatchet is on my short list now. I have convinced myself that it is better have one and not need it than to need it and not have it.
