Usually its the softer steel laminated over the harder steel...I'm not sure 154CM over SR101 would work??? I say this because Falkniven uses the softer 420 steel over top of VG-10 which is harder. The soft outside offers the toughness while the harder steel underneath helps to keep a sharpened edge and retains the sharpness longer.

How about SR-77 or SR101 laminated over the 154CM?

Exactly!! I bought them (except the S6 LE, but it was released before I found the yard) because that's the only choice that was offered. However, given the option of choosing between a (high quality) stain resistant steel and a non-stain resistant steel for a non-coated blade, I'll choose stain resistant every time.

I like the 154CM in my Hairy Carry, but I won't be picking up an LE unless it is INFI.

I dont have any real experience with SR101.
