okay, this is the translation of the results so far: you guys just asked to pay more for the same knife. Or to put it another way, in my eyes, folks voting for 154CM are asking to pay more for less knife. For a specialty knife like the muk or the bird dog or a more traditional sub-4-inch blade, I would be more likely to be fine with 154CM. For a knife the size of the S5, I'm probably gonna be doing some prying and even some batoning. I'm also likely to be bashing it around in places where I'm likely to smack the edge on some rocks, and I want a knife that's easy to re-sharpen, so stainless is right out. Since I have the same knife on the way already, I won't buy the LE release if it's not made from INFI. If I didn't already place an order for the CG, then I would be more likely to buy an SR101 LE. No matter what, though, I would NEVER buy this knife if it were made from 154CM - it simply wouldn't fit my needs.

Lord knows I love satin finished blades. I'll take a S5LE in INFI, SR101, or 154CM. I have to think that any non-INFI one will only be a little more than the CG model. It's a lot of work to do a satin finish. You're paying for the hand labor involved. No LE is "more knife" than a CG. They're just prettier.

No LE is "more knife" than a CG . . . . . . unless, of course, the LE is constructed of a better alloy than the CG. That would clearly be the case if the LE turns out to be constructed of INFI, but not otherwise. Well, yes, but this is the first time I have seen the LE being made of a different alloy than the CG. Even if it is SR101, that extra hand finishing will make it cost more than the CG.

hold a DFLE and CGDF side by side and you feel a dramatic difference.
i have trouble conceiving how Dan could change the sr101 LE scrapper five. competition grade is also a different story. you didn't pay extra, you traded a coat for an edge.

Hopefully you picked up a CG. Otherwise you won't know what you're missing. Nope. 4. Actually though, 2 are mine. 2 other people are getting introduced to the Yard with the S5.

forgive me, i meant "improve" when i said change.
an improvement, for me, would be to make it thinner. don't see that happening. wouldn't mind a differential temper, but that's really not necessary as is. the two combined, however, is a concept with potential. i would love a 1/8" SR101 scrapper 5 with a dual temper. that could depose the M2K from my top spot for utility.
oh Dan, make it so. please, make it so!

Doesn't mattter to me. At 100 bucks a pop for the cg in 101 it is a steal and if the pricing is right on the LE I will take a few of those too. Maybe have it in INFI and 154 ? No matter-still a very nice designed knife. I seriously doubt many will push these metals to the limits anyway. Looks like a winner no matter

I'm only buying if it's INFI.

I picked up a couple of CG S5s(wouldn't miss out on that) and though I like the 154, I would prefer it in SR101 over the 154. I would purchase one if it was in INFI but I'm on the fence for the LE in either of the other two steels.
