NE Ohio Busse Chop Off this SAT May 9 2009
Directions:
The location of the parking area is 41°14'31.34"N, 81°35'25.78"W. Google Maps and Yahoo Maps will accept that reference, MapQuest is more difficult. In English, that is less than a mile from the site of the old Richfield Coliseum.
From I-271, proceed to Rt. 303 (exit 12). Turn East, towards Peninsula. Almost immediately, turn right (South) on Major Rd. (I see that Google Maps now calls this Stine Rd. I'm pretty sure the street sign at the corner is Major ) Drive down 0.3mi, park on the wide shoulder on the left. Once we gather there, we walk another 0.20mi further South down the road, and then walk East 0.30mi in the power line right-of-way.. The first person to mark it in Google Earth wins the prize. Please note that there is no trail here. Last time we walked down some rutted old tire tracks under the power line. Then we cut through the woods (no trail) about 75 yds to a clearing by the pond. So please plan on dressing appropriately to bushwhack, and pack in your load. Sandals and shorts may not be a good idea. YMMV.
We will meet at the parking area @ 10:00am on Saturday 6/6. We will wait a little while for stragglers. If you come later, follow the directions above. As you hike up the power-line right-of-way, (0.3 mi) look for a length of Yellow Caution Tape on the woods margin on your right. It will be past the pond on the right. Enter the woods there and go straight back about 75 yards. Announce your arrival in case we are throwing knives.
