Well, got my first SYK, a MUK LE and I love it. First post here too.
New here, but not to Busse Family. Got my first Rat (Howling Rat, natch), back in the fall of '02 right after SRK started. Got into Busse Combat shortly after and been broke ever since.
I REALLY like this knife! VERY similar to a hand forged Green River skinner that I had for years and love the blade shape/size. That knife went missing during a move years ago and may be lost, may be in the bottom of a box. One of my favorite kitchen knives and this one will be seeing the same sort of duty.
My wife looked at it and promptly told me she likes her Bog Dog better. She didn't like the Bog Dog at first, but I just tossed it in the drawer and told her it only cost $20, so whatever. As soon as I quit raving about it, she started using it.
HINT: If you are married, NO Busse cost more than $50. EVER!
Might make it out into the woods if I get up some extra cash for some MtMike Moodex. We'll see.
The thing I like best about it? NO CHOIL !!! Even Jerry's version had sort of a choil, that just doesn't get it on this style of knife. Just gets hung up on stuff.
No experience with this steel at all. Funny, it feels dull as a stump, but will shave hair with no effort. It's sharp, just doesn't feel sharp. Is this normal?
Traded a bit of INFI for it, a Skeleton Key. Nice little knife, but it was just sitting in the safe not getting used. We were both happy and this Muk will never see the inside of the safe. As soon as I get through fondling it, it's going in the kitchen drawer.

Welcome man, and congrats. I just got my first scrap yard too. An SOD. Beautiful knife! I fear for us both. I don't think you can stop at just one...or one hundred.

Welcome Rob to the finest forum on the web. The Dogs who live here make this place a safe, kind, brotherly place to hang out. Stick around and join in,you may like it as much as your Muk!
Trading a Skelly for The Muk was a stroke of luck for sure. The Muk will command great prices a couple of years from now. Not that you should sit on it to sell it. But rather it was a great trade for you!
The Muk IS a great design,I agree whole heartedly. No choil makes it a joy to use on so many different chores, like you pointed out it doesn't hang up on stuff!
You may want to check out the for sale knives here at The Yard. The Scrapper Five is a great design as well and priced right below that $20.00 mark your wife loves!
Enjoy The Yard Rob and the knives and people here too!
Peace.

Nice blade. I missed out the MUK. It will be a few months before I can get one but I will try to find one as some point.
