A Scrapyard Khukuri would be really cool.

But a [SR77] golok with Res C handle would really rock.
As would a kukri!

And it would be affordable, too! Dan needs to make his Khuk bigger than Jerry's. With a traditional Khuk handle shape of Res C, of course. I'll take the LE model. Bring it!

Dan could put the new TT bowie handle on a kuk' that'd work very well! But when it comes to machete's I like my Tram' Bolo, great performance for pennies, so when you hit rocks (oops) no major drama!!

I want something that is insanely large. And a golok. And a Khukri. And you know......a DF!

I agree with Vic. A Scrapyard Khuk Res-C LE would be crazy. I want one!

I'm no expert, but wouldn't you want a thin blade in a machette? it'll still be plenty tough, and will cut more efficiently and be easier to swing.
And now the new swamprat blade seems like it fits your criteria... idk how pricey it'll be, but you should check it out.

I'm with EMF; I always figured a machete was more for clearing succulents and vines, saplings, that stuff. So thin and broad for effective slashing, not thick and stiff for whacking through hard wood. Could just be user-opinion.

I guess it is, but if you're out in the bush with a machette, what are the odds you'll have to pry a door open? besides, that's why you would bring a long your DM.
besides, if it IS that thick, is really a machette anymore anyway?

My thin machetes chop hard wood quite well. There is a technique to it, though. In my mind, the lowly machete is the ultimate survival tool in all areas with thick vegetation, not just tropical rainforests. I have spent much of my life in such areas and tried many different knives. Next best is a long bladed knife, that is not too heavy to swing. It could be a bowie, a kukri, or a golok.
My favorite knife for this is the DFLE. Give me a machete or long knife and a Swiss Army knife and I can do most any cutting, chopping, or slicing chore that comes up.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I have spent a fair bit of money on getting what I would call a "lightweight" high quality "combat machete" and had to go to a custom maker to give me a 12.5 inch blade that came in as a total weight of 16 oz...definately a good buy though...the chopping power and for once the "longevity" of the edge make this a very satisfying user. For the same weight though you can have a DFLE...which at 10 inches on the blade is a very good alternative...and it is a fair bit cheaper...even on secondary prices...but they are scarce...a new offering from Dan with a longer reach than the DFLE and thinner stock to make the same weight would be a pretty much instant "classic"!

The 16 oz Hossum blade is the bottom one...

The DFLE though is a great knife...

Oh that Hossum is so nice, Peter. Light and fast with good edge holding and moderate reach. Sounds like a real winner in the bush.
