From one who camps, the thickness is a huge advantage but would be better with a longer blade. Out here in Cali we have some tough wood like mesquite so the edge retention of SR-101 and the strength it is known for would be welcome here!

I don't plan on using the Regulator in a fight, but I don't like the idea of the guard giving either.

Jeff - I doubt that the guard would give enough to be a concern. After all, Dan and company DO give a lot of thought into the design, manufacturing, and testing of their knives! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I agree- but that being said it is a " test model" and if a slight change could make it better ? Just sayin <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Those crash axes were gone FAST! I got into the room maybe 5 minutes after the doors opened, and I never even saw them. It wasn't until I came home and saw the pictures online that I knew there were axes.
