Well I am one of the newer cats tee hee here at the pound and would love an opportunity to pick-up a DF of any flavor. esp. black, tanker grey, satin, OD green would be super sweet etc. etc. I have the M9LE and am seriously considering attempting a trade for a DF, Camp Tramp, or especially a Tali-Whacker! The M9 is just a little too wide for my taste. Hint Hint for any DOGS, Rats that have so many older sweet blades just lying around!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

TRADE A M9 for a DF??? Are you mad?!

M9's are selling for 300 bucks plus on the Bladeforums exchange. For that kind of cash you could get yourself a used dogfather and a pretty decent bottle of single malt.

Crap- ya mean I am a hopeless lunatic when I buy 3 or more. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Good Gawd- I am so screwed if this is the case <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />. M niner is sweet MM- but a DFLE is REAL SWEET too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. And - I just don't drink. Can see your point <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> JK-Thanks

Ok, well if you don't drink, you can send the single malt to me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

A nice highland malt would be fine - I've got a lot of peaty stuff hanging around here, so could use something a little less smoky.

i would only consider another DFLE. i wasn't crazy about the CG and i don't touch my LE too often either.

dan hasn't made a scrapper that i'd part with my m9le for.

Both are nice- ya need a DFLE on one side and the niner on the other- quite a combo <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'll also chime in and say the M9 isn't truly a chopper - it's a big, well balanced bowie.

That said, though, I've got stuff that will definitely out-chop a dogfather, so I'm not as keen on getting one as I might otherwise be. They are a great value and I do love the res-c handles, but I'd still be unlikely to jump on a DF re-release, unless there was a dry spell and nothing else I liked was coming out.

Or if they made it from SR101 or INFI <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

i don't think it would be any better a knife if it was made of infi. just more expensive.

I answered the question truthfully. Since I already have a DFLE, I don't need another DF. But I still think more DFs should be offered, since there are many who don't have one and can't afford a Busse FBM. The only change I would make on the DF would be to go to SR101 steel. After a couple of years of using both SR77 and SR101, I can say that I prefer the superior edge holding of SR101. That steel gets crazy sharp and seems to hold an edge forever. The Waki testing video should dispell any notions that SR101 is not tough enough.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Better? I'm sure you could argue that...

But different? Ohhh, yeah! DF is old hat - I want new hotness! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Echoing Horn Dog here. I can't afford a FBM but I would pony up for a SR77 or SR101 DF. Either one would work for me as I think they are both indestructible.
