I hope Dan keeps making SR101, and I definitely hope he keeps using Res-C....



BUT...

I HAVE managed to do serious damage to a res-c handle or two doing what I call "normal" camp chores - specifically, batoning. Sometimes when a blade gets stuck, you gotta give it a good whack on the handle to free it up, and res-c can get damaged by the impact. Careful handle shaping seems to mostly prevent the major damage, but it's something to keep in mind - res C feels awesome in hand, but it does have its potential drawbacks on a heavy use knife.

This is a great point, and one that I have been curious about regarding Res-C. It seemed to hold up very well at knifetests' evaluation of the Scrapper 6, which eased my concerns considerably. But, if you have seen this happen with batoning, I will keep it in mind as my SYKs arrive.

Don't keep it in mind - beat the crap out of those things. That's why these knives have great warranties <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
