tyger i know you pain, werstleing prathice is tough stuff, but i loved it, but unfortunatly i had to quit from the combonation of hurting my knee really badly and when i meen it hurt if i tried running on it,, it would give out on me in 10 sec. and the fact that my coach wanted me to drop 35lbs. which i didnt want to do and my mom wouldnt let me do b/c i use to wrestle at 103 and over the summer my long awaited growths sput kiked in about 2 years late and then weighed 135lbs. which still isnt much, but by the time sphmore year came around and had to tell him i quit, and man he wasnt happy he gave me a long speech about how i was letting the team down and he expected much more form me. But if i would have stunted my growth at 103 lbs. and really didnt want that, expesolly b/c im planning on going into the millatry in 2 years.

good call man, I don't view big weight cutting as healthy. Plan on being healthy for the long run! Don't max out at 17 yrs old! Have a healthy life style...

Woodsboy. How long ago was this? Now there is a weight desention plan that the Federation has states using. The plan uses a hydration test and a body fat test to determine the lowest weight a wrestler can go at, and dates when the wrestler can wrestle at said times. Much different than the days when I wrestled, when you would go to regionals tournament and see guys that sucked 20 + pounds in a week.

Ironic thing is that more basketball players and football players die from their respective sports than wrestlers. It is also ironic that more basketball players and football players end up with MRSA staff than wrestlers too.

As to your knee, sounds like you tore your cartlidge or even a ligament. I have had one surgery on my left knee for cartlidge and ACL twice on the rt. I would do it all again, but understand why you didn't. Sounds like your coach did not care much about his wrestlers either--train to win, sucking large amounts of weight does not put a wrestler in an advantageous position.

Saying all that, I need to get my fat $$$ back to working out too--especially since I got a Waki coming in down the road.

I train year round for MMA and Judo/BJJ/Submission fighting tournaments. Weights and "fight fit" workouts (push ups, sit ups, pull ups, med ball, cables, etc) 3-4 times a week on top of the regular training, rolling and sparring 3-4 days a week (sometimes twice a day.) I try to run or bike every morning just to get the cardio out of the way. I like to think I'm in pretty good shape : ) (I'd work out more but I'm a nurse full time too so sometimes that takes precedence).

yea i know all about the weight cutting rule and i think that it would have been 10 or 12 lbs. but my coach wasnt asking me to cut it in a week he had told me that he wanted me to go to 103 in spring but even then i wasnt leanin twords that raod, i was just happy i was almost the same size as every one else. and i dont know what im going to do about my knee, i havent ran on it for and unbelable 6 months, but ive tred some splints, shoe inserts, braces so mabe after work tomarrow i should try going on a light 1 mile run and dont get the impressin that my coach was mean, he was really nive when we wernt praticing, he did push us to our absolute limits but he did care about our health

You need to have the knee checked out before you start training. If it is torn cartlidge or ligament it needs to be repaired before more damage is done. You don't want to end up having bone on bone due to no cartlidge--believe me.

Looks like the Yard is in great shape <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!! Great to see that. I can't help but wonder how old everybody is ? I see Tyger's age and a few others-I am 58 and probably one of the oldest here <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />. I think there are a couple my age and older- but we have a large group of young guys that have a great work ethic <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Very refreshing to say the least-Thanks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
