Of course I would buy one. As odd as it may seem, I collect machetes. I don't know how most other folks would feel about a $100 + machete. Right now, I think Condor has the best ones on the market, and even those cost several times more than the very good Tramontinas. A machete with differentially tempered SR101 steel and a Resiprene C handle would be the Cadillac of machetes.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I have been wanting to try the Condors. How are the Marbles? I hear they are pretty good too. differentially treated 101 would be awesome (but I would be fine with SR-77)....What size would you prefer HD?

The machete is a no-brainer, as are many of the machete-like variants... I'd buy a SY billhook, golok, bolo, parang, etc etc etc etc....

In the longer machetes that I use for clearing, I have yet to find any better than the 18" and 22" Tramontinas. They are light enough to swing all day. Never tried the Marbles. For a heavy chopping machete, the Cold Steel Panga is a beast. The Condor bolo is another good one.

My vote is no, because I'm waiting for a sword. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" /> About 18" and made of SR77 would be cool! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I would buy one for sure but it will never happen. The average person treats a machete worse than a rental car. Some people would think that because it was made by Bussekin and had their warranty that it would make perfect sense to abuse it far beyond the norm. The fabulous warranty in this case will prevent it from being made. Just my .02.

I've been wanting one for a long time. I agree with Horn Dog's specs - obviously he uses them a lot and knows what works. There are inexpensive machetes out there but I'd love a Scrap Yard in either steel, but the ResC handle is a must. 18" +/- 2.
I know there are a lot of sword lovers out there, but I can't afford to buy knives I have no real use for, and if you are buying a long blade for brush clearing or trail maintenance, a machete can't be beat.
