I didn't say it holds the "same" edge as infi/sr-101, I said "almost" . From what I understand/experience, INFI/SR-101 will take a super scary-hair popping edge, where as SR-77 will take a scary shaving sharp, which is good enough for me as I rarely pop hair in real use. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> They might hold an edge a little longer, but slicing paper like in the waki video after chopping like that should be no problem, especially if you use the untouched part of the edge and slice towards the dull part, the sharp part + the momentum should carry it through the rest of the paper. Anyways, I will make a video next time to back up what I said.

And one more thing, I don't want people to think I prefer one steel over the other, I just think SR-77 gets kind of a bad rep for it edge holding abilities when in my actual experience it does a good job. A usable edge doesn't necessarily need to be scary sharp.

I would love to get a camp tramp to go with my battle rat. Don't get me wrong I love my SOD but I much prefer the SR101 over S7 and with the yard using it more and more it is going to be hard for me to look back.

it would be more money but have you ever thought of the busse NMSFNO, its a great chopper but its up to you if its worth all the extra money

i dont think SR-77 holds an edge like INFI.

between the SOD & CW i go with the CW and its diff. heat treated,better edge holding 52100 and plus i like micarta more than res-c and i think its one of the sexiest looking knives ever with more curves than kim kardashian.

I wish they would have chopped for 50 swings and then cut the paper all in one frame of filming. Not that I don't believe what I was shown.

I guess what I'm trying to say is not once when I use my SOD, do I feel I need SR-101 or INFI to finish the job. Even after bashing it on 2x4, trees, etc, it would still shave. And even if I used it to the point where it couldn't shave, the edge geometry would still be good for chopping.

I don't want to turn this into another SR-77 vs. SR-101/INFI thread, I think all 3 steels are more then adequate. And as long as Scrap Yard keeps to their motto, I could care less about which 3 steel they use.

I think we should do another survey...just a first second third choice of busse steels and tell people to take price into account. I think 101 would win.

I like Res C...a lot! More comfortable and you can still abuse the handles like crazy.
