The Yard introduced SR-77 into the world and took it and ALL of us by storm.
Nice rant, but factually incorrect. SR-77 was introduced on the SWAMP RAT crash axe, hence the SR in the name.
This whole loyalty to a steel is just plain silly, in my eyes. SR-101 is the superior steel for many applications, and to refuse to use it out of some misguided sense of honoring history is goofy.
What makes scrap yard blades scrap yard blades isnt their jackhammer tip steel - it's their inexpensive price and great performance. And at the moment, the biggest defining feature is the Res-C handles, not the steel... and I'm perfectly OK with that.
Dan could COMPLETELY DITCH SR-77 and I would be perfectly fine with it. In fact, I'd applaud the decision.
I'm loyal to the great people who make great products, not some chemical formula of their source materials.
