Some very popular knives have them -- BMs and HRs come to mind.
Which is one of the reasons I don't own any of them. When it comes to blade design, I'm pretty much a purest. The fewer lumps and bumps and dips and striations and corrugations a knife has, the better I like it. I'd take a BM-E or an ASH-1 or an NMSFNO any day over an FBM or an HR or a Sus Scrofa. But that's just me, of course.

Form follows function, for sure. But form is nice too.

I don't know, there is an appeal to simplicity, but I won't buy a blade unless it really jumps out and grabs me. I want it to perform great first, but it has to appeal to me visually as well.

Well, I don't know if I'll have to have one, but I hope someone else does and will sell me a comp HR or JH on the cheap for some quick funding.

I think it's safe to say that what I object to has NOTHING to do with performance. It's stricly a matter of aesthetics.

Exactly!

I like the "no choil" option...and the "hammer" butt shape...that first wave to the spine though looks too near for my thumb to have a comfortable alignment along the spine in order to benefit from the lack of choil with a fine carving grip...I think I would have preferred a flat spine similar to the 3B2...and given I have a 3B2 I probably will settle for keeping this and pass on this one...much as the "no choil" option and a bit of customising on the spine could probably give me what I want...hard to tell perhaps at this stage...

For 287 bucks, I'm at least slightly tempted... not convinced, but tempted.

It's difficult to imagine needing a fine carving grip with a knife called a "Tank Buster". But anything's possible, I suppose . . .

Well the Spec's post by Jerry has just gone up now...hence I said it was "a bit too soon to tell"....and at .25 thick in CG it will be a bit of a thick beast to use...although it is available in Double Cut at .22 for just $80 more...so I might get one in DC and re-profile the spine....could also convex the edge from the tip for the first 5 inches and then give the blade a higher shallow "V" grind for the remainder up to the handle for finer work...

Allowing for the fact that my "Jackhammer" is 3/16th thick....names like "Tankbuster" really mean very little on final expectation on Spec's.

I haven't checked BF yet, but if that is indeed the price then I am REALLY tempted!!! Oh man, how am I going to explain THIS ONE to my wife?
